Party Plus

Wow, what a party we all had yesterday!  I don't even know where to start.

We started it a little early because the "little Dutch boy" was too impatient.  We Ardeth and I tried to reason with him citing Hannah's absence as a good reason to wait but then she shouted down to us saying we could go ahead and that she'd be down soon enough.  So we did.

There are no pictures from that first hour because our photographer was still away at work but once she got home she jumped right to her second job of catching our party antics on film.  I normally show my own pictures and I didn't take but one of them last night.  I snatched the camera away from the photographer for just a second to take a picture of her and she blocked her face but well...  Something else is in the picture too..

To say we're all freaked out is an understatement.

Fall

Wonderful, I've already fallen behind with my blogging.  There's some exciting news though!  We've got a bed.  Just one.  I guess that isn't so great is it?  As if there was any space to put it.  On top of that we've got an interloper.  I don't even know where to start with that one so it'll have to wait for another time.
Ok, on to the topic of interest.  Fall.  It's here folks, it's here to stay too.  It's not like last year, not that I would know...  I was probably still in pieces in a dingy factory in China.  Or maybe the factory was really clean and the workers were compensated fairly, that's something anyone ever told me.
But for what it's worth, fall this year is nothing like it was last year.  It's been miserable and cold.  It was windy and cloudy and freezing today.  Acceptable weather, at the END OF NOVEMBER maybe.  Last year at this time it was still very warm and comfortable.  Shorts and short sleeved shirts were perfectly comfortable still.  Today was borderline "I need a real jacket."  Since it was so nasty no one went outside today to take pictures in the leaves so we all stayed in.

Here was the first picture I took of us 3, notice how no one is looking at the camera.

That's better.  Now if I could just not photograph my thumb anymore.

Introducing...

The human girl took this picture of Hannah and I a little while ago.  Hannah is working on walking with her new crutches and I look on.  I know Halloween is a month away but this new outfit showed up in the clothes box and I jumped at it.  Ardeth did the same with a purple dress.  We're pretty sure it's for the solstice celebration in December but it doubles as a Halloween dress too because it's black and purple.  Ardeth tied an orange ribbon around the waist to give it an extra Halloween-y feel!  Genius!

It's nice that she can get around now versus just sitting down like she did before.

Here's a self portrait of myself.  I always manage to get my hand in the shot, I hate it!

Ardeth normally doesn't like her picture taken but she let me do it today.  I think she wanted to show off the new dress.  See what I mean about the orange ribbon?  It really adds a Halloween flair.

Here's the best I could do with that petulant boy.  He kept dodging my camera and running around.

Hannah and Sosey

I took this picture of Hannah holding Sosey.  Sosey was sewn by the human girl.  Sosey really looks like she's watching Hannah, it's kind of creepy right?

The girl did Hannah's hair like this and we all agree (that is, us three plus Ardeth) it looks so much better than  just the plain barrettes holding her hair back like before.  This is so much cuter I think.

Time to go.  Oh, I also just found out, I won't be getting an actual bed until October.  The cash flow is literally a dusty dry river bed.  Looks like I have to hold curtains closed for a couple more weeks.

Nonexistent room and Introducing Hannah

I've been living here for a couple of months and the human still hasn't gotten around to giving me anything resembling a bedroom.  Not even a blanket on the floor.  What I'm really hoping for is a bed of some kind, and soon.  Standing on a shelf day in and day out or being used to hold curtains closed doesn't make for a well rested Courtney.  Hannah is the lucky one in the bunch, she isn't able to stand on her own and her crutches still aren't here.  (That means she doesn't have to hold curtains closed, lucky).  I read the email and they were supposed to be here today.  Needless to say, the human isn't pleased.  Something about the post office being up to their old tricks and not delivering things on time or when they are supposed to.

Maybe now would be a good time to explain who Hannah is.  Hannah is another girl who lives at the inn like me.  She was adopted from Ukraine when she was 4 years old.  I didn't know older kids like that can be adopted.  I always thought it was just babies who were adopted but anyway,  her dad adopted her when she was 4 and when she came home she couldn't even sit up by herself.  I didn't know her then but I guess she acted a lot like a baby.  In the years she's been home she had to learn how to be a kid.  She doesn't talk but she is able to sit now, and even stand with her arm braces.  She goes to therapy a lot and is working on walking.  I've seen her take some steps with her crutches and one day she might not need them.  She's still catching up in school but I see her at lunch time.

That's all for now ok?  I'll see if I can get some pictures up of where we live.

The Welcome Post

Here's the welcome post.  You either found a link to "start from the start" before jumping in or you literally are reading this as the first visitor to the blog and thus see no other posts here yet.  In any case, welcome welcome.

This is the blog of Courtney Robinson, age 13, 7th grade.  I live on the grounds of a small inn, in the living quarters with some of the staff, and their kids too.  A lot of people come and go here so I meet lots of different characters all of the time.

I've been living here for just a few months now with a couple of friends.  Hannah and Ardeth, and also a boy, but no one knows his name.  For real.  He sort of wanders around and complains a lot.

Maybe a little back story now to get you up to speed on who I am.  As stated I am Courtney, I live at an inn with my human guardian and plenty of other folks too.  I won't even try to name them all off right now but I came here in the spring of 2012.  April or May I think and get this, my name...  Came from the fact that on the day I went to live with the human, she had just spent the entire morning in COURT.  Receiving a guilty verdict I might add.  Guilty of a misdemeanor.  The severity level goes like this: Petty misdemeanor (which where we live isn't even considered true crime), misdemeanor (which is what she got), gross misdemeanor, and then the most severe charge, a felony.  She named me Courtney because she spent the morning in court.  My last name Robinson came from the fact that after court and after picking me up she heard "Mrs. Robinson" on the radio on the drive home.  I don't think it gets classier than that.  That's literally the ceiling of classy.

She also really likes Simon and Garfunkel.  She told me she once spent $250.00 on a ticket to see them live but the show got cancelled (she got her money back than heavens).  That's a true fan right there.  She says manically that she needs to see them before either one of them die.

Anyway that's my unfolding story for now.
